The Majestic Theatre was built on the site of an old slaughterhouse, and was opened on 7th August 1934.
In 1937 it was taken over by the Owen Cooper circuit, based in East Anglia,
The Majestic Theatre was closed on 5th April 1958.
It was converted into a Stamford Stores shop, then later became a bingo club, followed by use as a snooker club. It then operated as a nightclub named Deans. From 2014 it was Bar62.
