Folding of strata - Disharmonic Folds
Folding of strata - Disharmonic Folds
Imagine squashing a cake, the sponge will behave differently to the cream and icing. The same competency contrasts exist in geology. The Boscastle Fm. contains a mix of mudstones, siltstones and sub-ordinate sandstones. The sandstones are harder to squash than the mudstones. In the picture the folds don't match well so they are disharmonic.
