A gabled 2 storey building in Burscough behind the library, on the south side of the canal, has evidence of once being a defended building. There is a small single embrasure just below the roofline on this side (seen here), and a much larger one on the other side hidden from view. Both embrasures are now glazed, and appear as windows.
