Blackstaff Square, Belfast (August 2018)
Blackstaff Square was an attempt (more than 30 years ago - from memory) to beautify a bomb site. Back then, before the passing of the “no alcohol in public places” by-law, it was a well-known site for open-air drinking. Crowds of 50+ drinkers were common a Saturday afternoon.
Now a fairly unpleasant sight of a site and in need of some major attention or sale for development (it seems to have been transferred to the council following the boundary etc changes in 2015).
Brunswick Street is in the background, Amelia Street on the right and this sculpture J3373 : Sculpture, Blackstaff Square, Belfast in the vegetation behind the beer kegs.
