TQ0161 : The Mclaren ParkTQ0161 : The former Mizens Farm entranceMy Grandparents(Joan and George Webb) lived and worked at Mizens Farm (or Bonsys Farm but I never knew it as this) and are interned in a memorial garden by Bonsys Bridge at the rear of the McLaren site
The houses where at the entrance and stood where the buildings are now beyond the gate at the old entrance. 2 trees can still be seen to the west of the buildings that used to have a rope swing on enjoyed by myself, my sister and our cousins
The site was as big as the McLaren site is today and the Greenhouses where the biggest in the UK. The Farm grew salad vegetables which were distributed far and wide. Everything was grown and packed on site. Upon closure the Greenhouses where stripped down and shipped abroad
If you get the chance to stand on the Bridge over the river Bourne, take 5 minutes to think of us all playing Pooh Sticks and watching the river flow past a waterfall we made with logs on long summer evenings nearly 35 years ago...
Our family spent many many happy years on the Farm and I miss those years and those of my family who are no longer with us
