The track referred to is in fact the course of the closed railway line from Bentley to Bordon and the view is looking towards Bentley. The slightly inclined concrete post immediately to the right of the modern gate is clearly recognisable as a railway level crossing gate post (it is drilled to receive the fastenings for the gates). Beyond the gate and to the right of the track was the site of Kingsley Halt, the only intermediate stopping place on the Bordon branch line, which comprised a timber-faced platform backfilled with earth and ash. Evidently this has been completely swept away.
