The Swanley to Sevenoaks Bat & Ball line was opened on 2nd June 1862 by the London, Chatham & Dover Railway Company. Electric services between Bickley and Sevenoaks were introduced on 6th January 1935.

Incredibly, considering how peaceful this spot is, it was proposed before the war to open a four-platform station between here and Eynsford Tunnel and build an airport which the station would serve - see
