This pair have synchronised their hunt for food. The drake is resplendent in his proper plumage that will allow him to fly properly again. For a period in summer male mallard shed their normal plumage and look rather dowdy and are unable to fly as efficiently as usual SU0781 : Mallard drake, Wilts and Berks canal, Wootton Bassett
