Turret at Willersley Castle, Cromford
Willersley Castle is a classical mansion with romanticised battlements and turrets. Built in 1789 for the cotton spinning entrepeneur Richard Arkwright, proprietor of the nearby mills. It remained in the ownership of the Arkwright family until 1928 when it was purchased by the Wesley Guild for use as a Guild hotel and conference centre, a role it still fulfills.
Although Willersley Castle was built for Sir Richard Arkwright, he never in fact got to live there. During construction it was gutted by fire in 1791, and Arkwright was dead by the time it could be completed. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willersley_Castle
