Stained glass - the Crown Liquor Saloon, Belfast
In 1885 a major refurbishment took place at this Great Victoria Street pub, the owner employing Italian craftsmen to create a masterpiece of woodwork, tiling, and etched and stained glass. The building is now owned by the National Trust but is run by the Nicholson's chain. Internally, the pub features ten booths or snugs installed to provide customers with privacy as well as restored gas lighting. This view shows an example of the internal glasswork atmospherically lit by the gas lights.
