Ythan to Boat of Fechil
The Ythan sweeping down to Boat of Fechil on the right. This was the site of a ferry across the Ythan, the last ferryman "Boatie Tam" being commemorated in a footbridge just upstream.
In the days when steam tugs were able to ply up the Ythan, there was a grain warehouse and jetty at Meadow of Waterton NJ972302 opposite the site of Waterton Castle ruins. Lime and coal were brought up from Newburgh, and the grain taken down.
