ELISABETH and JOHN OLIFERS (OLIVER)
(JOHN OLIFERS was the son of ANDREW and ALICE OLIFERS)
WILLIAM OLIFERS born 1 May, 1824, Rochester, Northumberland, baptized Birdshopecraig Church on 29 August 1824, was the son of ELISABETH (?); the name of the father is not shown!
The elder children of ELISABETH and JOHN OLIFES (baptized in Birdshopecraig Church on 23 June, 1789) were: ALICE born 11 December 1811 and EDWARD born 26 April, 1821 at Lumsdon, Rochester; Baptized at BIRDSHOPECRAIGA CHURCH, ; VIOLET, 10 May, 1816; JOHN OLIFERS 26 July, 1818 and JANE OLIFERS 7 May, 1820. The father of these children is given as JOHN OLIFERS, Rochester who, from records at BYRNESS CHURCH, was buried aged 32, at Byrness. Also there are burials of JOHN OLIVER aged 9 months on 12 April, 1819 and JANE, aged 16 of Rochester. Apparently, JANE died in childbirth 5 September, 1836 (son JAMES MORLAND). JOHN MORLAND, father of JAMES, married ALICE OLIVER in St. Andrew Church, Newcastle upon Tyne. Northumberland
On 2 January, 1847, at Elsdon Parish Church, WILLIAM OLIVER, Bachelor (of full age), Laborer of Carrick, son of THOMAS ROBSON, pitman, married MARGARET PROUDLOCK Spinster of Elsdon, (of full age) 1823, daughter of GEORGE PROUDLOCK a Pitman. They had 12 children---MARIA OLIVER was my grandmother (1866).
Are there any PROUDLOCKS or OLIVERS still in the Rochester, Ryesdale area?
