York Railway Station
This station, designed by Thomas Prosser and William Peachey, was opened in 1877 and replaced an earlier station within the city walls. It had 13 platforms and was the largest in the world at the time of opening. More platforms were added in 1909 and the footbridge added in 1938. The station suffered from bombing in World War II. The station was listed as grade II* by English Heritage in 1968.
