Old Waymarker Stone on Mardon Down, Moretonhampstead parish
Headless Cross (Maximajor Stone), old head, shaft and base, Starkey No.74 by the footpath, in parish of Moretonhampstead (Teignbridge District), Headless Cross (Maximajor Stone), Mardon Down, off the road to Clifford Bridge (this is a replacement stone).

Maximajor was the Giant who was buried on top of Mardon Down but pushed open the barrow and escaped, only to be petrified here, further down the hill.

Carved benchmark on Southeast face.
