TQ0253 : Relic of the old days

taken 18 years ago, near to Burpham, Surrey, England

Relic of the old days
Relic of the old days
This relic beside the Wey Navigation at Broadoak Bridge (seen in the background) is a reminder of the days when traffic on the Navigation was horse-drawn. The Navigation makes a right-angled turn at this point and this post, with a revolving wooden shaft, was used to guide the tow-rope round the corner.
