Stone Monk
Stone Monk
Graiguenamanagh (=Gráig na Manach= Grange of the Monks) is the town of the monks and a stone sculpture of a monk stands on the approaches to the town. This one, in fact, stands in Tinnahinch, the village on the Co Carlow side of the River Barrow. Each sculpture represents a trade practised by the monks; this one appears to represent the butcher or hunter from the rabbits and ferret he carries.
