The wetlands of the Flurry Valley borderland
The wetlands of the Flurry Valley borderland
The image, taken from the Lower Foughill Road, shows an area of wooded wetland extending across the floor of the valley. Beyond the fen is the N1, which at the extreme right of the image is approaching Junction 20. The complex of yellow buildings is the Carrickdale Hotel and Spa which occupies both sides of the R132 (Dublin Road) - the Belfast to Dublin road before the N1/A1 dual carriageway was constructed in the 1990s, Edentober Mountain forms the background.
