Coldrum Long Barrow
Coldrum Long Barrow is the finest and most complete of the Medway megalithic monuments. It predates Stonehenge by 1,000 years.

Burial of human remains in the barrow began in the early Neolithic period (3985-3855 BC) for a period of around 100 years, with further human remains being placed in the chamber around 200 years later. People have been investigating the monument since the early 19th century and there has inevitably been much disturbance. More extensive examination of the chamber in 1910 recovered the bones of an estimated 22 men, women and children. Many more individuals may have originally been buried within the chamber.

In 1926 Coldrum was vested in the National Trust. The Wealdway passes the entrance on its way from the North Downs to the River Medway. The entrance would have been below the stones here. The North Downs scarp at Trosley Country Park can be seen in the distance.
