taken 5 years ago, near to Swindon, England

Old Town buildings [24]
Old Town buildings [24]
This 17th century house is now offices. When number 16 High Street was being renovated a stone bearing the initials GH and the date 1631 was found on the site and this has been reproduced on the replacement rainwater heads. The shopfront is 20th century and the appearance of the building would be greatly enhanced if the right 1st floor window was replaced or re-sized and glazing bar replaced. Listed, grade II, with details at: LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link )
Old Town, on its hill above the 'new' railway town, is the cultural heart of Swindon. The old and the new combined into a single town in 1900.
