NS7255 : Hamilton Central railway station, Lanarkshire

taken 5 years ago, near to Ferniegair, South Lanarkshire, Scotland

Hamilton Central railway station, Lanarkshire
Hamilton Central railway station, Lanarkshire
Opened in 1876 by the Caledonian Railway on what is now a loop line between Glasgow and Motherwell.
View west towards Hamilton West and Glasgow. The station previously had four tracks with a platform for each of the outer ones. As seen here, the left hand one is original, the right hand one has been moved 'inwards' and a bus interchange now partly occupies the site of the original.
The footbridge and lifts was installed in 2017 - somewhat more sheltered that the previous one - see NS7255 : Hamilton Central railway station, Lanarkshire, 2014.
