Steam crane, North Quay, Gloucester Docks
On North Quay, in front of the North Warehouse Link , is a steam crane representing the kind of equipment that would have been used in Gloucester Docks at the height of their operation. This particular crane was built in 1944 but was actually used in South Shields. The tracks on which it is running once continued across Gloucester Lock (behind the camera) onto a turntable, from where another track branched off at right angles to run down along West Quay.
