St Bridget's Kirk, Dalgety Bay
These ruins are the only remaining evidence of the former village of Dalgety.A church was in existence here from at least 1178. In 1641 Rev Andrew Donaldson became the minister here. He was a Covenanting minister who opposed the imposition of Episcopalianism of Charles I and was 'outed' from his charge. Following imprisonment and after the 'Glorious Revolution' Donaldson was allowed to resume his role as minister of the Kirk here. By the early nineteenth century the church had become unsafe and in 1830 the roof was lost. A new church was built half a mile inland.
The church is a fascinating place to explore with many old graves and staircases leading nowhere. Plus it has a fantastic view of Dalgety Bay.
