A house in Taliesin displaying a 'Cofiwch Dryweryn' (Remember Tryweryn) mural.

The original mural/graffiti in Llanrhystud on the wall of an old cottage SN 54737 70945was partially demolished by vandals in early April 2019. It was rapidly rebuilt and re-painted, but a side-effect was that dozens of copies appeared on walls throughout Wales in the days and weeks following.

The slogan urges people to 'Remember Tryweryn' - the predominantly Welsh-speaking village of Capel Celyn, Meirionydd SH8440 that was compulsorily purchased by Liverpool Corporation and flooded to make a reservoir to supply water to the city. In 2005 the Corporation officially apologised to the inhabitants. The issue remains a cause célèbre amongst the Welsh Independence movement.
