Llewelyn ap Gruffydd overlooks Llandovery
Llewelyn ap Gruffydd was a supporter of Owain Glyndwr who led a rebellion against Henry IV from 1400 to 1416. Llewelyn was hung, drawn and quartered on October 9th 1401 at Llandovery Castle for refusing betray Owain or the rebellion.
This statue, in stainless steel, was created by sculptors Toby and Gideon Petersen and has stood on the castle mound above the town since 2001, the 600th anniversary of his death.
