NR4450 : At Dłnan Charmaic

taken 5 years ago, 5 km SSW of Ardtalla, Islay, Argyll And Bute, Scotland

At Dùnan Charmaic
At Dłnan Charmaic
A large, heavily overgrown dun with a naturally defended east side and large walls on the others.
According to the Canmore record for this site, the remains of a hut circle inside the dun mark the location of an ancient corn-drying kiln. With the site now so overgrown, it’s very difficult for an inexperienced observer to be sure of the precise location of this feature.
