NY7868 : Vallum, Vercovicium

taken 6 years ago, 4 km N of Bardon Mill, Northumberland, England

Vallum, Vercovicium
Vallum, Vercovicium
Vercovicium Link was a Roman fort securing Hadrian's Wall. The view here is south (into what was Roman territory), and the low ridge beyond the barn at the centre is the vallum, the earthwork forming the inner boundary of the border area. The fort itself as well as Hadrian's Wall is behind the camera. The modern track on the right leads to Housesteads Museum Link .
