NY7206 : Smardale from the quarry

taken 5 years ago, near to Smardale, Cumbria, England

Smardale from the quarry
Smardale from the quarry
There are two quarries in Smardale, this being by far the largest and where limestone was the quarried rock. Some 400m to the south is a smaller quarry in the red sandstone that underlies much of the Vale of Eden. Smardalegill viaduct visible in the distance.
