Vercovicium: the hospital
Vercovicium: the hospital
The hospital or valetudinarium was located quite close to the centre of the fort and was arranged around a central courtyard with covered walkways connecting the rooms. All soldiers were trained in first aid, but hospitals such as this were run by professional medics.
