Rotherhithe: Former Nelson Dry Dock
Rotherhithe: Former Nelson Dry Dock
This former dry dock formed part of the Nelson Shipyard and was in operation up to the end of the 1960s. It dates from the 17th Century and is not thought to have any connections with Horatio Nelson. The whole dock and the caisson separating it from the River Thames, from the top of which this photograph was taken, is a Grade II Listed structure. The buildings to the left and right now form part of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel.
