Hartley Bridge over the river Calder - detail
The bridge SE2917 : Hartley Bridge over the river Calder carried a single track railway serving Hartley Bank Colliery to the south. The colliery closed in 1968 and the bridge now provides a footpath link to the canal. This view shows the underside of the bridge, and a flood depth marker on the abutment. The presence of debris proves that floods do occur here.
