Snow Bridge and Argyle Street Bridge, Glasgow
Snow Bridge and Argyle Street Bridge, Glasgow
Although wide and strong enough for vehicles, the Snow Bridge (foreground) is a footbridge at the western end of Kelvingrove Park. Argyle Street Bridge Link takes the main road across the River Kelvin. Snow Bridge Link , built in the early 19th century, has gates in its railings, which are said to have been used to dump snow into the river when the bridge was the main river crossing in the area; however, Historic Scotland observes "gates opening over centre arch on south side are a puzzle" LinkExternal link .
