Another shot of the Chaine Memorial tower. It was built, at the end of a short causeway, in 1887 in memory of James Chaine MP D4003 : The grave of James Chaine, Larne who owned Larne harbour. The architect, SP Close, is said to have used Antrim round tower J1587 : Antrim Round Tower as a model. It has doubled as a lighthouse since 1899. The “European Highlander” is arriving from Cairnryan. D4102 : The Chaine Memorial, Larne (2) shows a completely different view in June 2012.
