Millhouse Road joins on the right. The white lines are a recent addition.

The former Shielhill Glen railway crossed the road on a level crossing at this point, running approximately from the pole on the left to the metal gate near the centre and following the hedge line to the next pole and beyond.

The Caledonian Railway opened a short branch line from Dunrod on the Glasgow to Wemyss Bay line to the three sandstone quarries which operated in Shielhill Glen in 1868. The freight only line carried the sandstone to Dunrod in 7 ton trucks. The quarries closed over a 10 year period from 1876 to 1885.
