Footpath crossing a lane on a bridge, Cliviger
The Whutaker family of 'The Holme' were determined to be able to walk to Holme Station without encountering ordinary folk. so a private footpath across their land was made, including a subway under the main road, and the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway company provided a separate bridge under the railway when it was constructed in 1849. The path then crossed a lane on this bridge and went to a segregated part of one of the station platforms. The station was closed in 1930 and the last part of the path has been fenced off, but the path is now public and has been diverted to the lane.
