Alder buckthorn berries, Annadale, Belfast (August 2019)
I think these are ripening alder buckthorn berries, on a tree, among the rowans, between the Annadale Embankment and the Lagan.
If so they are rare throughout the whole of Ireland. NI distribution here LinkExternal link and the whole island here LinkExternal link
DO NOT EAT - the berries are very dangerous and can cause internal bleeding.
Wild berries, Northern Ireland

A selection of photographs showing some of the berries to be found on plants and hedges in Northern Ireland. Many are poisonous and should not be eaten. If in doubt – don’t.
