taken 5 years ago, near to New Holland, North Lincolnshire, England

New Holland pier, Humber estuary
New Holland pier, Humber estuary
Seen here across the estuary Link from The Deep Link in Hull, the pier at New Holland on the south shore was built in 1848, with a railway terminus at its seaward end to enable railway passengers to conveniently take a ferry across to Hull. Both the ferry and the railway station closed when the Humber Bridge was opened in 1981. New Holland Pier is now operated as a grain and animal food terminal by New Holland Bulk Services. The three elevated structures at the western (right) end of the pier are conveyors.
