Bronze Age round cairn on Gaythorne Plain
The limestone uplands of this part of Westmoreland are dotted with cairns. This one, although now grassed over, was once a more prominent stone edifice. Excavation in the past has revealed evidence of both burials and a cremation urn. The post next to the sheep once had an information board attached, whilst in the distance can be seen another such post indicating the position of the other nearby cairn.
