Cairn on Crosby Ravensworth Fell
This Bronze Age cairn occupies a site on a low ridge in an area of limestone pavement. It is assumed to be of Bronze Age, although it has not been excavated so exact dating is not possible. The stone 'cairn' in the centre of the grassy mound is much later and is described in official documents as being a 'modern' cairn 'built by walkers', although to me it certainly doesn't look very modern whilst it is away from the tracks and paths used by the majority of walkers.
