NH8422 : Juniper at Insharn
taken 5 years ago, near to Slochd, Highland, Scotland
Juniper at Insharn
In the foreground is a clump of Common Juniper (Juniperus communis). There has been concern about juniper in recent years, because it was declining in some places as a result of attacks by Phytophthora austrocedri, a fungus-like pathogen which was first discovered in Argentina. However there seems to be plenty of it in this area, though berries are scarce.
