The Grade I listed LinkExternal link Parish Church of St Mildred, Tenterden dominates the skyline. Most of the building dates back to the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. The 130 feet high tower built of Bethersden Marble, a locally quarried limestone containing many thousands of brightly coloured shells was constructed in 1461.
