The Drummuck Rath consists of an oval platform. It is highest on its Northern edge which overlooks a steep scarp and is enclosed by a bank.

A rath is an earthwork enclosure built during the first millennium CE. Some raths were defended settlement, others were holding structure for farm animals. Considered as structures of the little people by later generations, they were generally avoided and left to nature with the result that today most of them are overgrown by thickets and briars.
