The waterwheel at Pontrhydygroes is 24 ft diameter and was originally used at the Rest sawmill in the lower Ystwyth valley, SE from Aberystwyth. The original waterwheel here, of 26 ft diameter, powered stamps to pulversise lead ore from the nearby Lisburne Mines, which closed in 1913. The restoration project was organised by Pentir Pumlumon
