Explaining the Flags
All along the sea front at Aberystwyth the flags of many different countries can be seen flying in the breeze. At the northern end of the promenade, past the pier, are some less familiar ones. These are regional flags of areas where, like in Wales, minority European languages are spoken.
Alongside the Welsh, Cornish, Manx, Scottish ones from the UK you will find the flags of Corsica, Brittany, Sardinia, Friesland, Friuli, Catalunya, Galicia, Lapland, Asturias, Basque and a number of others.
The information board has the details, as do the individual flag poles.
