Sunrise on Scout Moor
At sunrise on the morning of 3rd December 2007, during the calm weather conditions, the disk brake and gearbox assembly were lifted into position on top of Turbine Tower No 16.
This was the first of 26 wind turbines to be constructed on Scout Moor.
The early morning lifting operation came after delays of three days due to strong winds.
It is appropriate that a picture showing the site of this historic reservoir should appear. It was originally built as a co-operative venture by the owners of water mills in the Cheesden Valley, its purpose being to ensure a continuous supply of water evn in dry weather when the brook was not supplying sufficient.
