Grade II Listed mid 18th century public house. The pub is claimed to have a history going back some 400 years. With seventeen rooms the hotel was run for 40 years by Dave and Jill Dixon and taken over by Bob and Dawn Gooderson in August 2015; 'Half Moon Hotel Alford Limited' being incorporated in May 2012 and dissolved after voluntary winding up in November 2015. Directory entries for the Half Moon include; 1828-1841 Robert Pocklington; 1856 Gregson Enderby; 1861-1872 Aaron Young; 1885-1896 Gregson Enderby; 1901 no victualler given; 1905 George W Dennis; 1909 William Bottomley; 1913 Mrs Laura Bottomley; 1919 Mrs Laura Baggley. Note the anomaly of A Young splitting G Enderby's tenure.
