In the south transept is this rare Saxon survivor. The font was taken from the previous church on the site and is dated to circa 705.
The cathedral church of St Andrew was consecrated in 1239 with building work having commenced in 1176. The central tower was added in 1322. There is a mix of styles, Early English Gothic, Decorated Gothic and Perpendicular Gothic. The cathedral is listed, grade I, with much detail at: LinkExternal link
