Church of St Nicholas, Moreton :: SY8090

The church was originally dedicated to St Magnus Martyr but was rededicated to St Nicholas in 1490. The church is listed Grade II* LinkExternal link and as seen today is the result of a rebuild in 1776 (and repair work carried out post WWII). It is famous now for its fine collections of engraved glass windows designed by Laurence Whistler and installed between 1955 and 2013 after the original stained glass windows were destroyed by wartime bombing in 1940. The funeral of Lawrence of Arabia was conducted in the church in May 1935.
