Architecturally de Ferrars Sixth Form Academy comprises the brand new extension seen ahead and an adjoining brick and stone-faced building, a little of which can be glimpsed on the left. The latter, in Art Deco style, was designed by the then Borough Surveyor, George Moncur and was opened in 1939. It was constructed as an extension to the adjacent Town Hall when further offices were needed. Both of these buildings were opened simultaneously in August 2018 as a new home for the 400 students in the school's sixth form. The college boasts a range of impressive facilities, including science laboratories, a gym and fitness suite, along with a 120-seat lecture theatre.
