Memorial to Joanne Reilly, an innocent victim of the Troubles
On April 12th, 1989 a no warning PIRA van bomb exploded in a yard adjoining a builder's office and the town's RUC Barracks in Charlotte Street. It was designed primarily to kill policemen. Instead, it took the life of Joanne Reilly a 20 year old clerk at the builder's office. In addition, 9 police officers and 30 civilians in the vicinity were injured, some seriously, and hundreds of houses were damaged. The memorial is sited on the wall of the rebuilt police station.
