The Vyne - The Lake
The Vyne - The Lake
There is a very substantial lake at the National Trust property of The Vyne. It was looking particularly attractive reflecting the autumnal colours of the trees and shrubs.
The Lake forms part of the EH Grade II listed grounds LinkExternal link

The Vyne is a Tudor mansion in extensive gardens owned by the National Trust. See LinkExternal link
Built originally between 1500 and 1520 in the reigns of Henry VII & VIII the house was extended or altered in all the following three centuries. It was originally built for Lord Sandys (1470-1540) a favourite of the latter king, who unusually managed to remain on good terms with Henry until his natural death.
For more detail on the architecture of this Grade I listed house see LinkExternal link
